Driver Charged In Thursday Morning's Hit and Run on 4th Avenue South

Traffic Unit Investigators this afternoon charged George Henein, 41, of Murfreesboro, with several offenses related to today's 3:20 a.m. crash that injured a pedestrian on 4th Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard.

The investigation showed a blue Honda CRV struck Nicholas Leonhardt, 28, of Charlotte, North Carolina, as he was crossing 4th Avenue outside of a crosswalk. The Honda fled southbound.

Leonhardt was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.

At 8 a.m., Henein called dispatch from Murfreesboro and advised he was the driver responsible for the crash. Investigators, with assistance from Murfreesboro Police, recovered Henein's Honda at his residence and took him into custody.

Henein is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, failure to give information or render aid, failure to provide immediate notice of an accident, failure to provide proof of financial responsibility, and not having a driver's license.
