City of Little Rock Public Relations (501) 371-6801
LITTLE ROCK - In another milestone for labor negotiations within the City of Little Rock, Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., announced today an extension of the Little Rock police union contract until 2027. The contract includes guaranteed salary increases each year that maintain and enhance Little Rock's commitment to public safety.
Under the contract, Little Rock police will receive 5 percent pay raises in 2025, 2026, and 2027. That will increase starting pay for a rookie patrol officer to nearly $61,000 annually, making LRPD the highest-paid municipal police force in the State.
This contract creates certainty and establishes a historic level of economic mobility for LRPD officers. It reaffirms the City's longstanding support of police, as nearly two-thirds of Little Rock's annual budget is dedicated to public safety.
"It's our obligation and priority to take care of our public safety personnel who put their lives on the line to serve our City," Mayor Scott said. "We are fortunate to agree to terms on these history-making contract extensions that formalize our commitment to these first responders. I am grateful to the Little Rock Fraternal Order of Police and to the Black Police Officers Association for this productive outcome as we move Little Rock forward together."
The agreement was reached concurrently with a contract extension with firefighters, who are also guaranteed 5 percent raises each year through 2027.
"The Little Rock Fraternal Order of Police is proud to continue the over 40-year practice of bargaining with the City on behalf of officers and sergeants," said FOP President Ronnie Morgan. "This practice of negotiating salaries, benefits, and working conditions gives certainty to employees and ensures the Department is competitive in the hiring process. We thank Mayor Scott, his administration, and the Little Rock Board of Directors for their commitment to the men and women who work every day to make this City safe for residents and visitors. With the extension agreed to over the summer, this marks the largest contract in my over 30 years as a member of the Department. The negotiating team for the City and the FOP Negotiations Committee did an outstanding job putting this together."
The contract, which previously went through 2026, now ends on Dec. 31, 2027.
