Main Library Expands Rooftop Series with Art, Astronomy Events

Published on April 17, 2026

Following strong attendance for the library's Sunset on the Roof series, Clearwater Main Library is expanding rooftop programming with new events that combine art, science and scenic views.

On April 22, the library will offer Art Appreciation Night on the Roof alongside an Artemis II moon mission recap lecture. Attendees may participate in one or both programs during the evening.

The schedule for April 22 is as follows:

  • 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Art history lecture in the Heritage Studio, led by Programming Specialist Savannah Elliott
  • 7 to 8 p.m.: Rooftop art class on the terrace, led by Librarian Thomas Shepherd
  • 7 to 7:30 p.m.: Artemis II recap lecture in the Heritage Studio, led by Division Branch Manager and NASA Ambassador David Stoner
  • 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Telescope viewing on the rooftop terrace, led by David Stoner

Participants may remain in the Heritage Studio for the Artemis II lecture or take part in the rooftop art class and sunset viewing.

Art supplies for the rooftop class are limited to the first 40 registered participants and registration is currently full. Community members are still encouraged to attend, bring their own supplies or observe the class. Refreshments will be available for all attendees.

The series continues May 1 with Sunrise on the Roof, which invites the public to the rooftop terrace to watch the sunrise. Coffee and donuts will be provided.

Because the library opens at 10 a.m., attendees must arrive by 6:15 a.m. to be escorted to the rooftop. The program will include a view of the moonset at 6:28 a.m. and sunrise at 6:51 a.m.
