New eLastovka application provides better information for travelling abroad and ensures more effective consular assistance

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has launched a new web and mobile eLastovka application for Slovenian nationals travelling abroad. The application allows faster and easier access to key information and significantly more effective notification in case of emergencies or crises.

eLastovka allows Slovenian nationals to check risk levels for travel to individual countries, locate the relevant diplomatic mission or consular post of the Republic of Slovenia and access contact information of local police and emergency medical services in the country. An important feature is the option to register travel. In the event of a crisis, natural disaster, security incident or other emergency, users will receive information and instructions directly from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in the form of push notifications.

"The safety of Slovenian nationals at home and abroad is our priority. The eLastovka application ushers in a new era of consular protection that is faster, better connected and more efficient. This modern digital tool ensures that Slovenian nationals receive timely information, direct notifications and reliable support when they need it most. The Ministry's Consular Department has been supporting Slovenians abroad for 35 years. eLastovka combines this wealth of experience with state-of-the-art technology, thus strengthening the safety, protection and trust of Slovenian nationals, wherever they may be," said Tone Kajzer, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.

When developing the application, the Ministry built on the experience of coordinating assistance to numerous Slovenian nationals abroad during the pandemic, and of organising the return of Slovenian nationals from various crises areas in previous years. eLastovka also follows the best practices of other European Union Member States that already successfully use similar digital tools.

Developed by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs with the European Union NextGenerationEU funding support, the application is part of the initiative to modernise the digital environment of the public administration system set out in the Recovery and Resilience Plan. It is an important step towards the further digitalisation of consular services and more efficient assistance to Slovenian nationals abroad.

The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs invites Slovenian nationals to register on the eLastovka application before travelling abroad. It is available on Google Play, the iOS mobile store and the HUAWEI AppGallery.
