The members of the National Assembly standing delegation are taking part in the June session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, held in Strasbourg, from 22 to 26 June 2026.
The delegation is headed by Biljana Pantic Pilja and also includes Aleksandar Mirkovic, Dunja Simonovic Bratic, Elvira Kovacs, Tatjana Pasic, Vladimir Djordjevic and Ana Jakovljevic.
In the course of the session, the delegation members took part in a debate on the functioning of democratic institutions in Serbia. After the debate, the participants adopted the resolution prepared by Monitoring Committee rapporteurs, Victoria Tiblom and Yunus Emre. The resolution was adopted with 89 votes in favour, 13 against and 4 abstentions, out of a total of 306 members of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
Among other topics at the session, the most significant were the functioning of the judicial system and the crackdown on the opposition in Turkey, the situation in Azerbaijan, the functioning of democratic institutions in Georgia, democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Iran, women's access to justice, eliminating gender stereotypes in the media, protecting democracy from disruptions caused by artificial intelligence, parliamentary elections in Hungary and Bulgaria, and food sustainability in times of crisis.
The parliamentarians also elected a new Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General - Tanja Gonggrijp from the Netherlands. She received the support of 135 parliamentarians, ahead of the Finnish candidate who received 59 votes.
