President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador of Italy to Armenia, Alessandro Ferranti

President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia, Alessandro Ferranti, on Italy's National Day.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the President stated: "I am pleased to have this opportunity to congratulate You on Your national holiday. In 1946, the people of Italy faced a great responsibility in choosing the path their country would follow. The Italian people chose freedom and democracy, and over the years you have traveled a very challenging path. As an independent state, we made a similar choice in 1991, although we are still going through trials and challenges. We all see Italy's successes and achievements.

I would also like to express my special gratitude to Italy and the Italian Government for the support they provide to the Republic of Armenia. We also share long-standing, centuries-old historical ties and are guided by essentially the same values. In this regard, Italy's support and cooperation hold a special role and significance for our country and our people."

Ambassador Ferranti thanked the President for the reception, stating: "Mr. President, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for this reception, Your congratulations, and Your friendly attitude. I would also like to convey to You the warmest greetings from the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella."

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues on the Armenia-Italy bilateral agenda and prospects for further developing cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador briefed the President on the latest developments in economic cooperation.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation in the tourism sector, emphasizing that the increasing flow of tourists reflects strengthened mutual interest and trust between the two countries.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on opportunities to study and share Italy's experience in education, culture, high technologies, and other fields. In this context, they highly appreciated the effective cooperation between Armenian and Italian universities.

The discussion also touched upon the continued development of cooperation in the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage.

During the meeting, the Ambassador reaffirmed Italy's support for the visa liberalization process regarding Schengen entry visas for citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
