Equifax has cultivated strong partnerships with educational and government institutions to enhance cybersecurity literacy and technology education, and has demonstrated a deep commitment to supporting Costa Rica's growth through collaboration, knowledge sharing and skills development.

Expanding Opportunity in Costa Rica's Knowledge-Intensive Service Sector

Equifax began its operations in Costa Rica in 1995 and has continued growing its footprint in the country, which now represents one of the organization's largest employee bases outside of the U.S. In July 2025, Equifax announced a new expansion in Costa Rica with the groundbreaking of a new corporate campus in Heredia, to be completed over the next three years.

Enriching the talent pipeline: Curriculum development from High School to Higher Ed

Equifax has played an active leadership role in the Costa Rican ecosystem, spearheading security and digital technology advancement. This leadership is evidenced by its role as founding member of the Costa Rican CyberSec Cluster, which gathers 200 affiliates today.

Equifax has forged strong partnerships with the Costa Rican Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Training (INA). In 2020, Equifax played a pivotal role in developing a cybersecurity curriculum, adopted as a new specialization for technical high schools. The program was implemented across 17 schools within the first year of its launch. At the university level, Equifax collaborated with the Technical Institute of Costa Rica, a leading institution in technological education, to shape the curriculum for its Cybersecurity Master's degree program.

Equifax provides universities with real-world cybersecurity insights, enhancing academic programs and preparing graduates for industry roles. Since the development and rollout of specialized cybersecurity curriculum in technical schools, Costa Rica has seen over 350 students graduate with essential industry skills in cybersecurity.

This year, the nation will see its first cohort of technical high school students begin their journey in a new cloud computing specialization program pioneered by Equifax Cloud technology experts in Costa Rica.

Enhancing Cyber Resilience Among Costa Rica's Public Employees and Broader Population

Formal memorandum of understandings (MOUs) with the Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and the Ministry of Education and INA underscore the company's commitment to boost the country's cybersecurity, innovation and digital skills capacity at both the institutional and national levels. Following a government cyber incident in 2022, Equifax partnered closely with the National Institute of Training and the Ministry of Science, to roll out training for public employees, with training that focuses on educating employees on data protection, recovery and incident response, strengthening cyber resilience.

Across the greater population of Costa Rica, Equifax has launched an online learning course, based on its own internal security awareness protocols. The course, which has reached over 5,500 users nationwide, focuses on improving cyber literacy by offering tips and guidelines for identifying social engineering, preventing hacks, understanding risks of open networks, and safeguarding personal information online.
