UNM launches Nate Crain Leadership Awards for undergraduate student leaders

The University of New Mexico is currently accepting applications for the newly endowed Nate Crain Leadership Awards, which will recognize outstanding undergraduate student leaders across campus.

The award will honor four undergraduate students each year with $1,000 scholarships, supporting those who demonstrate strong academic performance and meaningful involvement in campus leadership.

Applications are open now and will close Sunday, April 12, at 11:59 p.m. Selected students will be notified by April 17 and recognized at a campus reception on April 24.

The Nate Crain Leadership Awards are designed to highlight students who are actively engaged in organizations, student government, fraternities or sororities and other leadership roles at UNM. Eligible applicants must have completed between 24 and 96 credit hours and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The award is made possible through a gift from Nate Crain, founder and chief executive officer of Crain Investments and Consulting, a firm specializing in technology, nonprofit fund development, business strategy and private investing.

Crain earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Southern Methodist University and has been actively involved in leadership development and philanthropy. He has supported leadership programs, served on scholarship committees and contributed to several nonprofit organizations, including the Texas Navy Association and Patriot PAWS Service Dogs.

The award reflects a commitment to recognizing students who lead both inside and outside the classroom while strengthening the campus community. Students interested in applying can access the application online at sac.unm.edu.
