NMiF election coverage 2026: The governor's race

This week, New Mexico in Focus begins its election coverage with the state's biggest contest of the season: the race for governor.

Democrat Deb Haaland, a former congresswoman and Interior Secretary, and Republican Gregg Hull, a former three-term mayor of Rio Rancho, are vying to replace Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, who is term-limited at year's end.

Host Nash Jones sat down with Haaland and Hull for one-on-one interviews, exploring some of the biggest issues facing the state: education, healthcare, energy, affordability, data centers and more.

NMiF airs on NMPBS 5.1 (KNME HD) on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4, at 7 a.m., and streams on the PBS video app. Involved, informed, in-depth media: watch New Mexico in Focus again online shortly thereafter.
