Each spring, the Muskingum community comes together for one extraordinary celebration of generosity-Day of Giving. This year, March 18-19, Muskies everywhere will unite for 1,837 minutes in honor of our founding on March 18, 1837. Those 1,837 minutes are more than symbolic-they are a powerful reminder that our history fuels our future.
Day of Giving began as a way to rally alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends around a shared purpose: supporting the people and programs that define the Muskingum experience. What started as a focused giving initiative has grown into a campus- and community-wide movement-one that reflects the strength and pride of the Long Magenta Line.
This year, donors can choose from a variety of different designations, allowing them to direct their gift exactly where it matters most to them. Opportunities include:
Scholarships and Student Aid
Area of Greatest Need
Alumni Council Muskingum Fund Scholarship
The Arts (Art & Design, Music, and Theatre)
Greek Life Muskingum Fund Scholarships
With so many options, every donor can support the passion, program, or purpose that shaped their own Muskingum journey.
"Why Give? My $50 Won't Make a Difference."
It's a question we hear-and it's exactly why Day of Giving matters.
A single $50 gift may feel small on its own. But when hundreds of Muskies give together during those 1,837 minutes, those gifts are pooled to create something amazing: scholarships that open doors, experiences that expand horizons, and opportunities that transform lives.
That is the beauty of a campus- and community-wide Day of Giving event. Collective generosity creates significant impact. It's a feel-good action with very real results.
Last year's Day of Giving contributions directly supported students who are now continuing their journeys with confidence and purpose. Here are a few of the 2025-2026 recipients of Muskingum Fund and Greek Scholarships:
|
"As an out-of-state student, I was excited to learn that I received this scholarship. I am beyond grateful for the support of donors like you, because Muskingum means so much to me." -Emily Royston '28, Chi Alpha Nu Scholarship Recipient |
"This scholarship allows me to work fewer hours and actually enjoy my last year here. Thank you! I also have more time to give back to Phi Tau." -Parker Graf '26, Phi Kappa Tau Scholarship Recipient |
"I am so incredibly grateful for alumni donors for helping me make it possible to attend Muskingum. I am a criminal justice major and very involved here." -Sarah Laxton '28, Muskingum Fund Scholarship Recipient |
There is something incredibly powerful about hearing how you made a difference in the life of a Muskie-one who will go on to become a community leader, entrepreneur, artist, educator, healthcare professional, or innovator.
Day of Giving is more than a fundraiser. It is a celebration of shared Muskie pride. It is a reminder that the Long Magenta Line remains strong because each generation chooses to lift up the next.
Those who came before you helped write your story at Muskingum. Now, during these 1,837 minutes, you have the opportunity to help write the next chapter for today's Muskies.
Every gift counts. Every minute matters.
