Soil Borings on I-91 in Wallingford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that soil borings, will be performed related to the replacement of the three bridges carrying East Center Street, New Rock Hill Road and Durham Road, over I-91 in Wallingford. These soil borings are performed to determine the type of soil, and the depth and location of the rock under the ground surface. This information is used by the project team to design the bridge foundations to be constructed by a contractor. This activity is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 3 and be completed on Friday, November 14, 2025.

This project is being performed by New England Boring Contractors.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

There will be various lane closures on I-91 north and southbound from Exit 14 to Exit 15 beginning on Monday, November 3 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. that are scheduled to be completed on Friday, November 14, 2025. Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
