Active Assailant Integrated Response (AAIR) Project QuickLook

Body

Active assailant incidents are those in which individuals actively engage in life-threatening violent acts in a populated area with the potential of mass casualties. In most cases, their selection of victims follows no obvious pattern or method. As the frequency of such incidents has increased over the past few decades, they remain an ever-present threat. Due to the complexity, uncertainty, and rapidly changing nature of the scene, it is imperative to have an integrated response of emergency response personnel across law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire services to maximize safety.
