DUI Driver Arrested After Vehicle Loses Control and Flips

Roadway near 3rd and Perry closed for nearly an hour

Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 3:40 p.m.

On June 17th, 2026 at just after 2pm, 911 began receiving calls regarding a vehicle rollover near 3rd and Perry, in the area of Liberty Park. Officers quickly arrived to find a vehicle on its side, completely blocking eastbound traffic on 3rd avenue.

Witnesses advised the vehicle was driving at high rate of speed before losing control and flipping. Officers would locate the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle at the scene, immediately observing signs of impairment. After speaking with the driver, probable cause was established for DUI and the driver, 27-year-old Jeremiah Gitau was taken into custody.
