Ciscomani Supports Defense Legislation to Strengthen Military Readiness and Improve the Quality of Life for Our Men and Women in Uniform

Washington, D.C. - Representative Juan Ciscomani welcomes the passage of the annual legislative package that strengthens military readiness, supports Arizona's defense industries and improves quality of life for our servicemembers and their families.

The Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed the House of Representatives recently with a bipartisan vote of 216-212.

"Arizona's Sixth District is proud to be home to Fort Huachuca and Davis-Monthan Air Force Bases," said Rep. Juan Ciscomani. "Supporting our nation's heroes has always been one of my top priorities in Congress, and I will continue fighting to ensure they have the resources, tools, and capabilities needed to carry out their vital missions. The FY27 National Defense Authorization Act strengthens our military, invests in the quality of life of our troops and their families, and advances a peace through strength agenda that keeps America safe. I'm proud to support legislation that honors the service and sacrifice of our armed forces while ensuring they remain the strongest fighting force in the world."

The NDAA makes critical investments in the men and women who serve our nation, including a 5-7% pay raise for junior-enlisted servicemembers, $1.8 billion for new barracks and military housing construction, and more than $226 million to design and build childcare centers for military families. The legislation also includes landmark reforms to improve benefits for servicemembers, including enhanced cost-of-living adjustments for troops stationed in high-cost areas, increased paid leave allowances, fertility care coverage, and expanded dental coverage for junior reserve component servicemembers.

The bill also cuts nearly $30 billion in unnecessary spending while ensuring taxpayer dollars are directed toward strengthening national defense and supporting America's military.

Home to thousands of active-duty servicemembers and civilian personnel, the installation plays a vital role in defending our nation while supporting our local communities," said Huachuca 50 President Dr. Randy Groth. "The National Defense Authorization Act, which passed the House with Congressman Juan Ciscomani's support, makes critical investments in our military, strengthens missions at Fort Huachuca's, and ensures our servicemembers have the resources they need to carry out and protect our nation for generations to come."

Since taking office in 2023, Rep. Ciscomani has been a strong advocate for servicemembers in Congress. Through his role on the House Appropriations Committee, he has worked tirelessly to deliver resources that strengthen Arizona's military installations and support the missions carried out at Fort Huachuca and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Congressman Ciscomani has always been a staunch advocate for military families and has maintained a robust track record of supporting the NDAA to ensure America's military remains ready, equipped, and prepared to meet evolving global threats from adversaries.

The FY27 NDAA will now advance to conference negotiations with the Senate.
