Oʻahu Courts Reopen Wednesday; Kauaʻi Courthouse Remains Closed Through Friday

The Hawaiʻi State Judiciary announces that state courts and Judiciary operations on Oʻahu will reopen on Wednesday, September 9, following closures due to Hurricane Lowell.

The courthouse on Kauaʻi, Puʻuhonua Kaulike in Līhuʻe, and Judiciary operations on Kauaʻi will remain closed through Friday, September 11, due to impacts from the hurricane.

All hearings and trials scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday on Kauaʻi will be rescheduled. To the extent there are emergency proceedings the court determines must be heard, appropriate notice will be issued.

In addition, Chief Justice Vladimir P. Devens will issue an order to be posted here on the Judiciary website extending the deadline for filing documents due Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday on Kauaʻi until Monday, September 14.

Hearings, trials, and other court proceedings scheduled for Wednesday on Oʻahu will proceed as scheduled.

The public may visit the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary website for updates and information.

As always, parties may also monitor the state's online public case information system, eCourt Kokua, for the most current information regarding hearings, trials, and case activity.
