On 21 April 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with H.E. Mrs. Daniela Schmitt, Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture of Rhineland-Palatinate, Federal Republic of Germany, during the latter's visit to Thailand from 19 - 25 April 2026.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance trade and cooperation between Thailand and Rhineland-Palatinate in potential areas, including biotechnology and life sciences, agricultural technology and smart farming, as well as the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a particular emphasis on the wine industry, in which Rhineland-Palatinate holds strong expertise and is seeking to expand its market presence in Thailand. The Permanent Secretary informed about the Government's economic priorities, efforts to streamline regulatory procedures, and the promotion of cooperation in innovation, healthcare, and the green transition. She also provided an update on its OECD accession process and sought Germany's support for the ongoing negotiations of the Thailand - European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). On this occasion, the German side extended an invitation to the Permanent Secretary to visit Rhineland-Palatinate at a mutually convenient time.
Both sides also exchanged views on the current uncertain international situation and economic risk diversification.
