Tajikistan Celebrates Independence Day

On 9 September 1991, the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan adopted the Statement on State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Decree on Proclamation of State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. From that moment, Tajikistan became a sovereign state.

Festive, cultural, sports and public events are being held across the country to mark the anniversary. Improvement, construction and reconstruction projects are being implemented in Dushanbe and the regions.

Independence Day is celebrated with official events and public festivities.

In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan, 9 September is a public holiday and a non-working day.
