Bobcat Bulletin Student Spotlight highlights students who are successful inside and outside the classroom. This edition of Bobcat Bulletin features Robert Moffett '26.
Hometown: LaVale, Md.
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Why did you choose to attend Frostburg State University?
The collaborative program with the University of Maryland allowed me to earn my mechanical engineering degree from a top engineering school while remaining in a smaller student body.
What extracurricular activities were you involved in?
On-campus, I was heavily involved in a ministry called The Crossing and the rock climbing club. I also participate in church services weekly by playing the piano and ski when possible.
What is your favorite memory as a student?
My favorite memories are walking around campus weekly and spreading the message of the Bible with others. I was able to meet so many people and form many friendships while also helping others grow closer to Jesus Christ.
Which faculty and/or staff member has influenced you as a student?
Both Dr. Justin Dunmyre and Dr. Eric Moore '00 were very influential on my college career. They both heavily encouraged me to take a minor in math and physics and worked with me to ensure I was learning all course material for the long term and not just for an exam.
What advice would you give to a student currently studying your major?
Attend office hours and show the professors you care.
Tell us about a class or activity at FSU that has had a surprising effect on your life.
The on-campus ministry known as The Crossing has had the most influence on my life. Throughout my time at college, through attending that group and talking with other peers, my path changed from pursuing mechanical engineering to now attending Seminary in the fall to seek a full-time career in God's ministry.
What is a cause dear to your heart?
Reaching people with the message of Jesus Christ is the cause most dear to my heart. It is important for everyone to be reached and know that Jesus loves them.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy board games, video games, playing piano, skiing, rock climbing, and studying religion.
What three words can you use to describe FSU?
Supportive, Foundational, and Student Driven
