Colorado Springs Airport Monthly Update — August 2026

Colorado Springs Airport (COS) recorded 110,738 passenger enplanements in August 2026, a 3.9% decline from August 2025. The decrease reflects broader national trends as the travel industry navigates economic challenges and fluctuating fuel prices. Decreased passengers during August at COS can also be attributed to a temporary reduction in frequency to Santa Ana-Orange County (SNA) on Allegiant Air, in addition to Southwest Airlines discontinuing service to Baltimore-Washington (BWI) and Cancun (CUN) in 2026.

Delta Air Lines posted a 7.8% increase in enplanements at COS compared with last year. Delta Air Lines maintains twice-daily service to Atlanta (ATL) and Salt Lake City (SLC) with seasonal flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) through early September.

Colorado Springs Airport remains committed to sustainable, long-term growth by strengthening airline partnerships, supporting existing routes and pursuing expanded air service options that enhance travel opportunities for residents and visitors throughout the Pikes Peak region.

• Sept. 24: The COS team joined business leaders and elected officials to celebrate Southern Colorado's 2026 Best in Business Awards, presented by the Southern Colorado Business Forum & Digest. COS and Peak Innovation Park earned Gold-level recognition in two categories:
  • Colorado Springs Airport: Community Choice Award for Best Business Air Travel Support.
  • Peak Innovation Park: Excellence in Industrial/Manufacturing in the Land Development, Infrastructure & Energy category.
• Sept. 5-7: COS sponsored the 50th annual Labor Day Lift Off, featuring pilot Chris Smart flying the COS-branded banner balloon over Memorial Park to celebrate this milestone event.
• Sept. 16-19: COS welcomed hundreds of attendees to the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) annual memorial event honoring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. On Sept.19, a solemn ceremony took place honoring those who died or whose names were submitted between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2025.
• Sept. 19-20: The Pikes Peak Regional Air Show returned, showcasing historic and modern aircraft displays, , food vendors and family programming. The event brought over 14,000 total attendees over the two-day event.
• Oct. 2-3: COS in partnership with Honor Flight of Southern Colorado is proud to announce Flight 23, a two-day trip taking 90 local veterans to Washington, D.C. Each veteran will travel at no cost as part of Honor Flight's mission to honor those who served by bringing them to the memorials built in their honor. The public is invited to participate in the following two activities:
  • Oct. 2, Flight 23 Send-off: Plan to arrive by 5:30 a.m. to the Allegiant Air ticket counter on the public-side to cheer on the veterans as they begin their journey.
  • Oct. 3, Flight 23 Welcome Home: Plan to arrive by 8:30 p.m. at North Colorado Springs Readiness Center, 9510 Voyager Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80920 to welcome home the veterans during a celebratory ceremony.

Milton E. Proby Parkway roadway rehabilitation project update

• The Airport transitions to the final work area of the Milton E. Proby Parkway roadway rehabilitation project. The project is expected to continue through late October and will include asphalt milling, crack repair, paving, and final striping on both inbound and outbound lanes.
  • Sept. 21-Sept. 23: Drivers should expect right-lane closures along both inbound and outbound lanes of Milton E. Proby Parkway as construction crews complete roadway shoulder work.
  • Sept. 23-Oct. 17: Drivers should expect lane shifts and slower-moving traffic between 10 a.m. and 3 a.m. near the arrivals exit and entrance ramps.
  • Sept. 23-Oct. 17: The Cell Phone Lot will have temporary closures to facilitate parking lot rehabilitation. Traffic control flaggers will be positioned to manage staging cell phone lot traffic.
• Motorists are encouraged to follow electronic traffic message signs and directions from traffic-control flaggers, obey the posted 15 mph construction-zone speed limit, remain alert for traffic delineator posts and other construction-zone markers identifying active construction areas, and allow additional travel time when traveling to or from the Airport.
• This work is part of COS' ongoing efforts to maintain and improve Milton E. Proby Parkway, the airport's primary access roadway, and ensure safe and efficient travel for passengers, employees, and Airport partners.
