New Tennis Amenities Coming To Lorenzi Park, Event Postponed

Event Postponed

Las Vegas Ward 5 Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong and the Las Vegas community will postpone a groundbreaking ceremony originally scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. for new tennis amenities at Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave. The city will reschedule this event at a later date.

The city of Las Vegas will begin work on a $4.9 million dollar project that will add three new tennis courts, refinish the existing 10 courts and construct a new tennis clubhouse building with a check-in area, multipurpose room, restrooms and storage. The entire complex will now be known as the Marty Hennessey Tennis Center at Lorenzi Park.

Starke Contractors will build the project; the design consultant is TSK Architects. The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department will manage the project.

This project is funded through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, which authorized the sale of federal lands within a designated boundary in the Las Vegas valley and requires proceeds to be used on projects that benefit communities and public lands.
