To commemorate its golden anniversary, the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Western Washington University is set to launch the inaugural CBE Viking Classic Golf Tournament. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, this signature event will take place at the Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club in Blaine.
The CBE Viking Classic Golf Tournament is a highlight of the College's 50th anniversary celebrations, inviting the community to gather, play, and honor five decades of academic and professional achievement.
"Celebrating the College of Business and Economics' 50th anniversary is not just about honoring our past-it's about inspiring our future," said Deanna Kennedy, dean of the College of Business and Economics. "It's an exciting opportunity for alumni and friends of the College to connect on the greens, support our students, and mark this milestone."
Golfers will play in a scramble format, where each player takes a tee shot, and the team selects the best shot to play, ensuring both seasoned golfers and newcomers will have a great time. Tee off is at 1 p.m., with a shotgun start - teams will tee off at the same time, but from different holes, so everyone begins and ends at roughly the same time.
With lunch and dinner included for participants and sponsors, attendees will have ample opportunities to network and celebrate the CBE's half-century legacy. Beyond the fairways, guests are invited to extend their festivities with discounted accommodations at the Semiahmoo Resort and Spa.
"We're thrilled to host the first-ever CBE Viking Classic as part of our golden anniversary celebrations," said Kati Johnson, director of the College of Business and Economics MBA Program and main organizer and contact for the golf tournament. "We're looking forward to bringing our community together for a fun day filled with camaraderie and a shared commitment to student success."
Proceeds from the tournament will support scholarships and resources for CBE's new direct freshman admit program, helping to provide greater access and opportunities for future business and economics students.
Designed to bring together alumni, faculty, staff, and the broader business community, the tournament promises an engaging blend of friendly competition and meaningful connections.
