Local alumni-owned business CrainCo has committed to the funding of construction of the new "CrainCo AI Innovation Lab" at Southeastern Oklahoma State University's John Massey School of Business.
The construction of the new lab will advance Southeastern's progress towards goals set in Southeastern AI: Advancing Education, Efficiency, and Economic Growth. The university received roughly $500,000 in grant funding from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education towards the project in December 2025.
Rooted in SE's mission to serve students and strengthen the regional economy, this project represents a holistic approach to responsible AI adoption, in the creation of multiple AI-driven systems and spaces, including the CrainCo AI Innovation Lab.
"We're very thankful for the support of local businesses like CrainCo who can see how future innovations in this space can help not only their business, but others in our region," said Dr. David Whitlock, president of Southeastern Oklahoma State University. "Technology may be rapidly changing, but the spirit of collaboration and partnership in our community has not changed. This lab will enhance the learning experience of Southeastern students for years to come."
"This lab will be a combined AI and Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, providing advanced computing, 3D printing, and connected technology for students, faculty, and partners to collaborate on real-world innovation," noted Dr. Rhonda Richards, Dean of the John Massey School of Business. "The application of innovations developed in this lab will be instrumental in the overall implementation of the plan set out for the Southeastern AI project. I look forward to Spring 2027 to see our students and faculty take advantage of this tremendous opportunity."
