Treasurer Stacy Garrity Hosts Next Generation of Public Servants on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

Harrisburg, PA - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity welcomed a dozen young visitors to the Finance Building today for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, giving them a front-row seat to the inner workings of state government.

Children of Treasury employees, ages 8 to 18, were invited to step into their parents' roles for the day, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at how the department serves millions of Pennsylvanians. From exploring state financial operations to learning how unclaimed property is returned, children experienced firsthand how their families contribute to the Commonwealth.

"Days like this are about more than just showing kids what we do - they're about inspiring the next generation. We want these children to appreciate the hard work their parents do every day and to see that they can have a real impact, whether that's in public service or any career path they choose."

Seven Treasury bureaus participated in the event, including Outreach and Marketing, Comptroller Operations, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Support Services, Unclaimed Property and Communications. Each group hosted interactive sessions, answered questions and guided students through hands-on activities designed to mirror real-world responsibilities.

"This event gave our employees' children a meaningful introduction to the workplace in a way that was both engaging and memorable. It was exciting to see them connect today's activities to future possibilities."

Director of Human Resources, Katie Beers

Before the day wrapped up, students had the opportunity to meet Treasurer Garrity to ask her questions and hear about her role and day-to-day duties as state treasurer.

"I'm impressed every day with my staff at Treasury, so it was no surprise how thoughtful and curious their children were."
