Tickets available now for expanded service between New York and Pittsburgh via Philadelphia and Harrisburg
Amtrak will soon expand service on the Pennsylvanian with a second daily round trip beginning Nov. 18, providing customers with more travel options between New York City and Pittsburgh and communities across Pennsylvania.
"With tickets becoming available this week, customers will have even more opportunities to travel aboard the Pennsylvanian," said Amtrak Board Member and Chair of the System Growth Committee Rob Gleason. "This second daily round trip will provide greater flexibility, strengthen connections across Pennsylvania and demonstrate the value of strong partnerships in growing passenger rail."
Tickets for the new departures are now available on Amtrak.com and the Amtrak mobile app. This second daily roundtrip will provide greater scheduling flexibility while enhancing connectivity for residents, visitors, and business travelers throughout the region.
The additional frequency is the result of close collaboration among Amtrak, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Norfolk Southern and the Federal Railroad Administration, supported by ongoing infrastructure and safety improvements along the route.
Customers traveling aboard the Pennsylvanian enjoy Coach and Business Class seating, free Wi-Fi, café service and trainside checked bicycle service, allowing customers to bring their bikes onboard for travel across Pennsylvania and the Northeast Corridor.
The Pennsylvanian route is financed primarily through funds made available by PennDOT. For more information, along with photos and video from the Oct. 6 PennDOT announcement in Johnstown, Pa., click here.
