New Institute of Digital Government to Build an AI-Ready Public Service

More than 150,000 public officers will be equipped with practical digital, data, and AI capabilities by end-2028, to work more effectively in their domain tasks and deliver better services to citizens. Leading this government-wide effort is the new Institute of Digital Government (IDG), established by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) in collaboration with the Civil Service College (CSC). The IDG was officially launched today by Acting Minister for Manpower and Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Ms Jasmin Lau, at the AI Tech Festival held at the CSC.

As AI increasingly reshapes work, the IDG will help public officers across all levels - from fresh entrants to senior leadership - apply digital tools to their work. Through structured programmes, officers will be given opportunities to test new approaches, redesign workflows, and build solutions. The IDG will also facilitate the sharing and deployment of useful products and practices through cross-agency learning communities, in support of wider digital transformation across the Public Service. In doing so, the IDG will enable officers to experiment, learn and scale effective solutions across the Public Service to deliver better outcomes and services for citizens.
