When the promise of easy money appears, can anyone truly escape the cost? Netflix has unveiled the first look at its upcoming Thai film, Everybody Loves Me When I'm Dead , premiering October 14. This gripping drama invites viewers into a world where desperation, ambition, and family ties collide with the shadows of the underworld.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nithiwat Tharatorn, known for his heartwarming storytelling, Everybody Loves Me When I'm Dead marks a bold departure, delivering a thought-provoking drama beneath its gritty crime surface. The film explores the tangled web of middle-class aspirations, family dysfunction, and the high-stakes world of banking, all set against the backdrop of a society where the lines between right and wrong are blurred.
At the center is Toh (Theeradej Wongpuapan), a respected TV star making a rare and powerful return to film. Toh is a diligent bank employee and devoted father, whose world unravels as technology threatens his job and mounting bills push his family to the brink. When his daughter's costly international school fees become the final straw, Toh's desperation leads him to team up with Petch (Vachirawich Wattanapakdeepaisan), a junior colleague who stumbles upon a dormant bank account containing 30 million baht - money left behind by a deceased client with no heirs.
Driven by circumstance and temptation, the two men make a fateful choice to take the money. But their plan quickly spirals out of control, drawing them into a deadly game with dangerous criminals who want the fortune back. As they scramble to stay ahead, Everybody Loves Me When I'm Dead unpacks society's pressures and the moral dilemmas faced by those struggling to survive.
Also joining the cast is Chulachak Chakrabongse, who brings a mysterious edge to the criminal underworld, and introduces newcomer Vachirawich in a breakout performance that's one to watch. With high-caliber production, compelling direction, and standout performances, the film promises to spark conversations about morality, family, and the cost of chasing dreams in an unforgiving world.
Everybody Loves Me When I'm Dead premieres on October 14, only on Netflix.
