Archibald encourages applications to the AI and Data Assured Skills Academy with EY

Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald is encouraging all those who are eligible to apply for the AI and Data Assured Skills Academy with EY.

Funded by the Department for the Economy, the Academy is an eight-week intensive training programme delivered by Belfast Met. 20 successful applicants will work towards the acquisition of sought after skills, in areas such as AI, cloud and data fundamentals, data management, data visualisation and business analysis.

Participants who successfully complete the Academy are guaranteed a job interview for a role at EY.

Encouraging eligible individuals to apply, the Minister said: "This latest Academy with EY and Belfast Met will provide an exciting opportunity to acquire much sought after skills and gain industry recognised qualifications.

"Assured Skills Academies have a very strong track record of success in upskilling people and broadening the local skills base which is a key element to growing our economy.

"With a £180 per week training allowance, travel expenses and assistance towards childcare costs I would encourage everyone who is interested and eligible, to apply for this opportunity."

Commenting on the launch, Belfast Met's Interim Principal and Chief Executive, Damian Duffy said: "We are proud to build on our long-standing collaboration with EY and the Department for the Economy through this new Assured Skills Academy. Developing Advanced Digital capability is central to Belfast Met's strategy and to meeting the future skills needs of our region.

"This programme offers participants industry-recognised training that supports progression into high-quality employment, while strengthening the digital talent pipeline for employers. We remain committed to delivering innovative learning that drives inclusive economic growth and empowers individuals to realise their full potential."

Applications are now open and close at 12 noon on Monday 19 January 2026.

An information session will take place on Thursday 29 January, with interviews being held on Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 February 2026.

Applicants must be over 18, have been awarded at least a foundation degree in any subject at the point of application, have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status. Proof of this status will be required to progress to interview.
