Cobb EMC Honors First Responders at Annual Steak Out / Five Alarm Event

Earlier this week, Cobb EMC's annual Steak Out and Five Alarm event celebrated local law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical services personnel (EMS) who protect and serve communities across the cooperative's five-county service district.

The appreciation lunch, held at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, recognized the dedication and service of public safety professionals who serve Cobb EMC members and their communities each day. More than 400 first responders enjoyed lunch from LongHorn® Steakhouse, live music by the Old Mill Road Band, and door prizes.

The program opened with Whitney Wells singing the National Anthem, followed by the Presentation of Colors by the Cherokee County Multi-Agency and Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services Honor Guards. Marty Godfrey, Executive Pastor of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, and Chaplain Dana McPherson, a retiree of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, delivered the invocation.

"The men and women we recognize today show an extraordinary commitment to serving and protecting our communities," said Cobb EMC President and CEO Kevan Espy. "Steak Out and Five Alarm is our opportunity to simply say thank you. As a local cooperative, we're proud to recognize these dedicated public safety professionals and celebrate the difference they make for our members and communities every day."

Steak Out and Five Alarm is one of Cobb EMC's long-standing traditions of thanking public safety personnel throughout its five-county service area. The annual event gives Cobb EMC an opportunity to celebrate the service, sacrifice, and commitment of the first responders who help keep local communities safe.
