VIDEO: House Minority Leader Congratulates Local Native, Latest NASA Astronaut
Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie spoke on the House Floor this week to honor Cameron Jones, a Savanna native, who was selected by NASA to join the 2025 astronaut candidate class.
He is a Major in the U.S. Air Force: Major Jones was selected from over 8,000 applicants to join the 2025 astronaut candidate class and has logged over 1,600 flight hours in more than 30 aircrafts.
Major Jones reported last month to begin his training as one of NASA's 10 new astronaut candidates for future missions to the space station, Moon and Mars.
To congratulate him, Leader McCombie filed a House Resolution, HR498, which she spoke on during legislative session.
