Backbase expands Hyderabad development center to scale AI engineering

Hyderabad, India, 9 October 2026 - Backbase, the AI-native Banking OS company, has announced the expansion of its Development Center in Hyderabad, adding 30,000 square feet of office space in HITEC City. The expansion addresses rapid team growth: Backbase India has grown from fewer than 50 engineers in 2020 to over 600 today, making India the company's largest engineering hub outside its Amsterdam headquarters.

Sri D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the center.

The new space will house specialized engineering roles - UX, Full Stack Engineers, Data Engineers, SDETs, Forward Deployed Engineers and Applied AI Engineers - across product and platform development. Backbase chose Hyderabad for this growth because of the region's deep talent pool, cost efficiency, proximity to key customers, and access to engineers who bring fresh thinking to complex problems.
