Fort Worth airports taking off with growth and upgrades

Published on November 05, 2025

Fort Worth's airports are seeing steady growth and major improvements. Since 2020, airport operations have increased about 7% each year, and revenue has nearly doubled. After strong gains following the pandemic, revenue has continued to grow steadily at 3-5% per year since 2023.

Meacham International Airport: Meacham Airport is seeing major private investment, including nearly 280,600 square feet of new hangar space on 19.8 acres. The development is expected to generate $418,339 in annual revenue by fiscal year 2028.

Key projects underway include:

  • Reconstruction of Apron Bravo and Taxiway Golf, scheduled for completion in February 2026.
  • Construction of a new maintenance building, expected by FY2027.
  • Airport frontage improvements, set for completion in October 2026.

Meacham will also get a new air traffic control tower funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The new tower will rise to 119 feet, replacing the current 54-foot tower, and is scheduled for completion in late 2027 with full Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funding of $13 million.

Spinks Airport: Spinks is expanding with private investment on 5.7 acres, including 17 box hangars and 24 T-hangars, totaling 85,228 square feet of new space and generating $78,085 annually by FY2026. Recent and upcoming projects include:

  • East-side property acquisition of 36 acres completed December 2024.
  • East-side hangar access taxi lanes Phase II, scheduled for completion in summer 2026.

Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport: Perot Field is also seeing upgrades. Recent improvements include taxiway extensions, runway repairs and delivery of a new aircraft rescue and firefighting truck. Looking ahead, the airport will continue upgrading taxiways and runways and preserving airfield shoulders through 2030.

These projects are supported by FAA and TxDOT grants, City funds, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law support, gas well revenues and proceeds from the Perot Field Noise Land Sale. The City's five-year plans focus on upgrading both airside and landside facilities to meet growing demand, improve safety and support the local economy.
