CORRECTED: SCDOR arrests two for failing to file SC Income Tax returns

SCDOR agents arrested two people on Monday in unrelated cases and charged them with failure to file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns, pay taxes, and keep records.

Terrance Damien Carroll, 47, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with three counts of failure to pay taxes, file a return, or keep records. Jacqueline Brooke Duvall, 50, also of Myrtle Beach, was charged with two counts of failure to pay taxes, file a return or keep records.

A previous version of this news release incorrectly stated that Duvall was also charged with two counts of tax evasion. Those charges are pending. The SCDOR apologizes for the error.

According to arrest warrants, Duvall did not file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns for tax years 2021-2022 but had taxable income those years of at least $306,787. As a result, she owes at least $6,573 in unpaid South Carolina Income Tax.

According to arrest warrants, Carroll did not file timely returns or pay South Carolina Individual Income Tax for tax years 2022, 2023, and 2024, but he earned at least $305,081 in South Carolina taxable income. As a result, he owes at least $17,458 in unpaid South Carolina Income Tax.

If convicted, Duvall and Carroll face a maximum sentence of one year in prison and/or a fine of $10,000 for each count of failing to file a return and pay taxes.

Both Duvall and Carroll were taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center for a bond hearing.
