On Monday, Dec. 22, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Ford Street.
Crews from Stations 1 and 2 arrived on scene in less than five minutes to find heavy fire in the front area of the structure. Firefighters initiated a defensive attack, deploying hose lines and a deck gun to apply large volumes of water. The fire was brought under control shortly after crews arrived.
Once the fire was brought under control, crews confirmed the residence was vacant. No occupants or pets were inside at the time of the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by TFD's Fire Prevention Division in coordination with the State Fire Investigator.
TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and City of Tallahassee Utilities. Responding units included Battalion 1 and 2, Engine 1, Engine 101, Truck 1, FM 1 and Engine 2.
This incident marks the tenth residential structure fire of December. As part of the Tallahassee Fire Department's Keep the Wreath Green initiative, one additional green bulb on the wreath will be replaced with a red one.
