Twiggs Co: Upcoming Traffic Shift for SR 96

New Traffic shift will begin for Monday, October 20, 2025 at 9 am

The traffic shift is planned on SR 96 beginning west and ending east of its intersection with SR 87 in Twiggs County as part of PI 322470. East and westbound traffic on SR 96 will be shifted to the newly paved & parallel section of SR 96 just south of the existing roadway. The existing roadway will be closed once the traffic shift is complete and reconstructed as the future westbound section of SR 96. This will be the 6th traffic shift for this project and it is approximately 1 mile long. This traffic shift is planned for Monda,y October 20, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM EST and will take 1 day to complete

Traffic Control/Notification: Message Boards & advanced warning signage is being utilized to alert the traveling public ahead of the shift. There will be no speed limit reduction or any new vertical/horizontal clearance restrictions.

Advisory: Motorists should avoid the area and take an alternate route. Any updates or changes to the schedule will be posted on Facebook and Twitter @GDOTWest. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through these zones.
