Angelina Monfrey has been hired as the resident director for the New Student Residence Hall at University of the Ozarks. Her first day was June 1, 2026.

A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Monfrey recently completed an MBA with an emphasis on leadership from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. She also earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from UIU.

Monfrey served as a student life assistant and resident assistant as an undergraduate at UIU. She had been a graduate assistant for student engagement at the university since January 2025.

"After spending the last five years at Upper Iowa University as both a student and graduate assistant, I am excited to begin this next chapter at University of the Ozarks," Monfrey said. "Student engagement has played such an important role in my own college experience, and I am passionate about helping students find their place, build meaningful connections, and create memories that last long after graduation. I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the Ozarks community and contribute to an environment where students can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

"I am grateful for the support of my family and friends, who have encouraged me throughout my academic and professional journey."

Monfrey served as student government association president at UIU and was a multi-sport athlete, participating in shotgun sports, lacrosse and track and field.

"As a former collegiate athlete, I enjoy staying involved in athletics as much as I can," she said.

Monfrey said in her free time she also enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, art and cooking.
