Two more earn president’s Cherished Camel staff award

David Hosea and Janice Taylor were surprised during staff Christmas luncheons this month with visits from President William M. Downs and mascots Gaylord and Gladys after both were named recipients of the Cherished Camel award.

The award is an initiative launched this fall by Downs to regularly recognize "exceptional performance" by Campbell staff and to "promote excellence and provide visible university-wide appreciation of employees who demonstrate daily dedication, initiative and productivity." Five recipients were chosen to receive the award in September, and Hosea and Taylor became the sixth and seventh, respectively, to receive the recognition.

Hosea is the help desk supervisor for Campbell's Information Technology Services department. He has been with the University for nearly five years, starting as an associate endpoint analyst in 2021. Prior, Hosea held similar roles for DuBose Strapping in Clinton and Harnett County Schools.

Taylor, the admissions and student affairs coordinator for the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine, has been with Campbell for over 25 years. She previously worked with the South Carolina Department of Education, Governor's Office and House of Representatives. She moved to Harnett County in 2000 and worked for the Harnett County Clerk of Superior Court and prior to joining Cambell's med school and also worked for the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce.

All current full-time and part-time Campbell employees with non-faculty appointments and who have worked at Campbell for at least one year are eligible for the Cherished Camel Award. Each recipient receives a $100 gift card and a certificate. Nominations for future recipients can be made here.
