On 24 July 2026, H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, welcomed and exchanged views with Professor Tony Haymet, Australia's Chief Scientist, at the Thai Residence following the latter's recent visit to Thailand.

Professor Haymet paid a visit Thailand in June 2026, during which he visited the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi), had a meeting with the Office of the National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), and toured facilities at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). He also participated in an event organised by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) at the Australian Embassy in Thailand, where he had the opportunity to meet Thai alumni and students in Australia.

The two sides also exchanged views on policies to promote science, research and innovation, as well as Thailand-Australia cooperation, which has a strong foundation and encompasses a number of areas. They also discussed ways to further advance cooperation towards a more strategic partnership, particularly by promoting collaboration between research institutions and research infrastructure in both countries in areas with strong potential, including biotechnology, medical and health sciences, advanced manufacturing, food innovation, quantum technologies, clean energy and research infrastructure.
