2026 FIATA Global Industry Perceptions Survey: Your Voice Shapes the Future of Logistics

FIATA calls on its Members to take part in the 2026 FIATA Global Industry Perceptions Survey and share their perspectives on the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the global logistics landscape. This year, the survey is open to Members across all four FIATA regions: Region Europe (REU), Region Americas (RAMS), Region Africa Middle East (RAME) and Region Asia-Pacific (RAP).

Members' contributions will provide valuable insights into the realities facing the industry across different regions, helping FIATA better understand emerging trends and address the needs of the global freight forwarding community.

The results will be featured in the 2026 FIATA Market Report and presented during the 2026 FIATA World Congress in Milan, 6-9 October 2026. Members are encouraged to participate in the survey and join the Congress discussions to exchange ideas and help shape the future of freight forwarding.

The survey will close on Friday, 21 August 2026.

FIATA at eLogi Fest 2026: Advancing Inclusion and Practice-Oriented Training in Yerevan

FIATA, represented by Ms Sofia Aiche, Head of Training and Programmes, was pleased to take part in eLogi Fest, held in Yerevan, Armenia, and supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) among other sponsors. The event brought together logistics associations, training providers, and industry actors from across the region, offering a valuable opportunity to connect with both established and newly formed associations and to discuss future partnership and development in the Caucasus.

FIATA contributed to the panel Women in Logistics: Digitalisation and New Opportunities for Engagement of Women in Transport and Logistics, alongside fellow speakers from the sector. For FIATA, inclusion is not a peripheral topic but a core part of how the industry must evolve. The discussion challenged a long-standing assumption: that logistics is inherently a physical, male-coded sector. In reality, functions like freight forwarding are desk-based, document-based, and regulation-driven, never part of the physically demanding segment that shapes public perception of the industry. What has historically limited access for women has been visibility of these roles, information about entry points, and the accessibility of training itself. Across FIATA's network of Associations, flexible delivery of the FIATA Diploma and other training programmes is increasingly removing these barriers, allowing training to reach people regardless of location or schedule, and turning access, rather than aptitude, into the real lever for change.

FIATA also took part in a roundtable, Beyond Universities: Need for Practice-Oriented Training Program for Logistics and Transport, where the discussion centred on industry best practice in training design, favouring modular, applied learning delivered in partnership with national associations, so that qualifications remain globally recognised while staying grounded in local market realities.

Altogether, eLogi Fest reinforced FIATA's commitment to building a more inclusive, better-trained logistics workforce, and opened the door to new regional collaboration in the months ahead.

2026 FIATA World Congress: Updates from the Site Visit Milan

On 8 to 10 July 2026, FIATA conducted the last site visit to Milan, marking another important milestone in the ongoing preparations for the 2026 FIATA World Congress. The visit was warmly hosted by Federazione Nazionale delle Imprese di Spedizioni Internazionali (FEDESPEDI), whose team welcomed the FIATA delegation and worked closely together throughout the site visit. Together, the two teams went through the full programme, reviewing each element of the agenda to ensure that every aspect is progressing smoothly and that all arrangements remain on track.

The site visit also provided an opportunity to revisit the many workstreams already under way, from sessions and registrations to communications and logistics, confirming that preparations are advancing well across the board. A particular highlight was the return to the MiCo Congress Centre, where the spaces were reviewed in detail to finalise the remaining arrangements. From the layout of the sessions to the flow of delegates, the visit confirmed that MiCo offers an outstanding setting for the FIATA centenary celebration at the FIATA World Congress and that everything is firmly in place to deliver an exceptional experience at this landmark edition.

The 2026 FIATA World Congress will take place in Milan from 6 to 9 October 2026, marking a truly historic occasion as FIATA celebrates its 100th anniversary. The countdown is now well underway, and the global freight forwarding and logistics community is warmly invited to be part of this historic edition.

FIATA Webinar Highlights the Importance of Risk Management in Maritime Contracts

Nearly 200 participants joined FIATA's first Spanish-language webinar "Gestión de Riesgos en los Contratos Marítimos" on 7 July 2026 to discuss how freight forwarders can better navigate the growing complexity of maritime contractual relationships.

Opening the session, Ms Barbara Hiebendahl Jalil, FIATA Working Group Sea Chair, and Mr Miguel Espinosa, FIATA Region Americas Chair, highlighted the challenges currently affecting global maritime transport, including geopolitical uncertainty, climate-related disruptions, and their impact on contractual risk management. They also underlined FIATA's commitment to providing practical tools to support freight forwarders in strengthening their operations.

The webinar featured the presentation of the FIATA Best Practice Guide on Maritime Contracting - Risk Management and the Role of the Contractual Carrier by Mr Manuel Alba Fernández, Associate Professor of Commercial Law, Carlos III University of Madrid and delegate of the FIATA Advisory Body on Legal Matters. He introduced the guide's objectives and structure, explaining how it helps freight forwarders understand their contractual position, identify potential risks, and develop strategies to better manage their obligations when working with ocean carriers.

Mr Mauricio García Arboleda, President of the Colombian Maritime Law Association (ACOLDEMAR), shared practical examples of common challenges in maritime contracting, focusing on the importance of clearly defining contractual roles, maintaining consistency between documents, and understanding the implications of key clauses.

The session also included a discussion on specific contractual risks and recommendations for reducing exposure, providing participants with practical insights into how careful contract management can support more resilient freight forwarding operations.

The strong participation and engaging exchange demonstrated the growing importance of contractual knowledge and risk management in today's evolving maritime supply chain.

Digitalisation: Share Your eFBL Implementation Journey

As a founding member of the Future of International Trade (FIT) Alliance, FIATA invites its eFBL users to share their experiences of implementing the digital, negotiable FIATA Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (eFBL) .

The FIT Alliance have launched a questionnaire to gather real-world experiences from organisations at different stages of their electronic bill of lading (eBL) journey, including pilot projects and live deployments. The responses will contribute to a public library of case studies showcasing lessons learned, implementation challenges and the practical benefits of digital trade documentation.

FIATA Member experiences will help build industry knowledge and support the wider adoption of interoperable electronic bills of lading.

FIATA Members that have implemented, or are currently piloting, the eFBL are encouraged to complete the questionnaire and contribute their implementation journey.
