Oakland University to host Earth Month event featuring conservation expert Douglas Tallamy
As part of its Earth Month celebration, Oakland University will welcome renowned conservation biologist and author Douglas Tallamy for a special campus event focused on biodiversity, conservation and the role individuals can play in supporting nature.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, in The Habitat room of the Oakland Center, located at 312 Meadow Brook Road in Rochester, Mich. The program will feature a keynote presentation from Tallamy along with opportunities for attendees to learn about conservation efforts taking place across campus.
Tallamy is widely recognized for his work promoting the use of native plants to support wildlife and restore biodiversity in residential landscapes and communities. He is the author of several best-selling books, including Nature's Best Hope and Bringing Nature Home, which highlight how small actions taken by individuals can have a significant impact on protecting ecosystems.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. with a book signing and student organization fair, where attendees can meet representatives from Oakland University student groups involved in environmental sustainability and conservation initiatives.
At 11:45 a.m., organizers will provide a brief introduction to conservation projects underway at Oakland University before welcoming Tallamy for his keynote presentation, which will run from noon to 1 p.m.
