Every Triton deserves to feel well - and the Triton Health and Wellness Building is making that easier than ever for students and our campus community.

Since opening in mid-July, more than 17,300 students have already accessed the comprehensive, integrated health and well-being services. The team recently implemented a new Self-Arrival option for students to facilitate a smoother arrival process, and so far the feedback has been positive, with 52 percent of students choosing to check in via their phone or kiosk. A new, dedicated student well-being lounge opened on the first floor in early October to create a restorative space where students can pause, relax and reflect before an appointment or while passing through Triton Center.

The building represents the most significant investment in student health in the campus's history, offering primary and urgent care, mental health support, physical therapy and preventative well-being and health-based programs, as well as optometry services and a full-service pharmacy; and unites Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Health Promotion Services and the College Mental Health Program, making these services more accessible to students from one location.

The top floor is dedicated entirely to mental health, housing CAPS alongside the Department of Psychiatry's College Mental Health Program, offering culturally sensitive, evidence-based care with a focus on early intervention, stigma-free support and a full continuum of treatment. In recognition of a generous gift, the CAPS reception area has been named the Gilbert J. Martin Foundation Patient Lounge, reflecting a shared commitment to accessible and compassionate mental health care for every Triton.

The Triton Health and Wellness Building isn't just for students, though. UC San Diego Health's Primary Care and Occupational Health also are available in the new building, increasing accessibility to UC San Diego Health providers on campus for faculty, staff and the broader regional community. The first patient seen in the space on opening day was a member of campus leadership, who was thrilled to have access to the region's best health care right in the heart of campus.

UC San Diego faculty and staff with UC Blue & Gold, UC Care and UC HealthSavings+ plans are now able to see a UC San Diego Health primary care physician at the new building. Those looking to switch their care to UC San Diego Health can find the steps at the UC San Diego Health website.
