Mercyhealth welcomes neurosurgeon

Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Brandyn Castro, MD, neurosurgeon and Medical Director of Neurosciences, to Mercyhealth Neurosurgery Center, 1000 Mineral Point Ave., Janesville.

"My philosophy of care is centered on treating every patient as an individual and involving them in every step of the decision-making process," said Dr. Castro. "I believe patients deserve a clear understanding of both their condition and my recommendations for treatment. My goal is to provide compassionate, high-level neurosurgical care using the latest techniques and technology, while helping patients and their families feel supported and confident throughout their journey."

After earning her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, Dr. Castro served a neurological surgery residency at the University of Chicago, Chicago. She then completed a neuro-oncology fellowship at Northwestern University School of Medicine, Chicago. Dr. Castro currently serves as assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Castro's special interests include:

• Brain, spine, and spinal cord tumors, with expertise in neurosurgical oncology
