Iowa City Climate Fest returns Sept. 22-26 for seventh year

The City's 7th annual Climate Fest is coming your way with five days of events Sept. 22 through 26, 2026!

The annual event is a celebration of the many ways our community takes action to address climate change with a series of free, family-friendly events.

The lineup of events this year include several that celebrate the recent expansion of Iowa City's compost facility, a major milestone in the City's Climate Action efforts, along with some familiar favorites like the EV car show:

  • Sept. 22 - Community Conversation on building a climate-ready future held at The Englert
  • Sept. 23 - Birds & Bees Urban Habitat Tour throughout UI's Downtown campus
  • Sept. 24 - "Planet Soil" film screening with a live musical score from Dan Padley at the ICPL
  • Sept. 25 - Save Our Surplus: Community Garden Glean at Chadek Green Park
  • Sept. 26 - EVs at the Market will feature a Solar Social at the Farmers Market

A complete schedule of daily activities can be found on the event webpage, icgov.org/ClimateFest. Throughout the festival, stories and activities will also be shared on City social media accounts: Facebook, Nextdoor, Instagram.

If you will need disability-related accommodations in order to participate in these events, please contact Sarah Gardner at 319-887-6162 or [email protected]. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
