Bennet Introduces NDAA Amendment to Ensure Intelligence Support for Ukraine

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) directing the Secretary of Defense and the Director of National Intelligence to continue sharing information, intelligence, and imagery to support Ukraine on the battlefield.

"The United States must continue intelligence-sharing with Ukraine so that Ukraine has the leverage it needs to achieve a just and enduring end to this war," said Bennet. "We must keep supporting the Ukrainian people's fight - for the sake of U.S. national security, Ukraine, and democracy everywhere."

Bennet's legislation would provide crucial guardrails to prevent the Trump administration from recklessly restricting intelligence-sharing with Ukraine, as the administration did in March 2025.

Bennet has staunchly supported the Ukrainian people in their fight since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his unjustified, unprovoked, and unlawful invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Last month, Bennet released a statement on the Alaska talks between President Donald Trump and President Putin, emphasizing that achieving peace through strength will "require continued American resolve and close coordination with our NATO allies."

In May, Bennet and Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) introduced legislation to prohibit the United States from recognizing Russia's false claims of sovereignty over Crimea or any other forcibly seized Ukrainian territory. In April, Bennet introduced legislation to impose sanctions on Russia - and actors supporting Russia's aggression in Ukraine - if Russia refuses to engage in good-faith negotiations for a lasting peace with Ukraine or undermines Ukraine's sovereignty after such a peace is negotiated. In March, Bennet and fellow Senate Finance Committee members demanded that President Trump maintain Congressionally-required trade restrictions on Russia. In February, he joined a bipartisan congressional delegation led by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) to Kyiv, Ukraine.

In September 2024, he called on the Biden administration to allow Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons to strike military targets in Russia, which President Joe Biden authorized weeks later. Bennet also visited Lviv, Ukraine with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate colleagues in early 2024.
