Statement from NYSDOT New York City Regional Director Erik Koester

The New York State Department of Transportation understands the importance of the Korean War Veterans Parkway to Staten Island and we are committed to working with the community to minimize disruptions caused by our ongoing pavement preservation project. After listening to the concerns of residents, commuters and our partners in government, NYSDOT has decided to postpone work on this project until after the busy summer travel season. The Department will also begin work to remove the current lane closure and restore all travel lanes as soon as possible. NYSDOT is currently assessing the impact of these actions on the overall project schedule and will keep the community apprised of further developments.
