State Restores Brady Firearms Background Check System

The Governor's Technology Office (GTO) and the Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS), State Police Division, announced the Brady Firearms Unit background check system is operational as of 8:00 a.m. today following statewide network disruptions caused by the recent cyber incident.

"I'm pleased to announce access to the Brady Firearms Unit was successfully restored this morning," stated Governor Joe Lombardo. "I'm grateful to the Governor's Technology Office and Department of Public Safety who worked 24/7 to restore access to this essential public safety service."

FFL Portal - Licensed dealers can submit background checks electronically via the FFL Portal beginning at 8:00 a.m. To reduce call volume and serve all dealers more quickly, FFLs with portal access should use the portal for all submissions.

Phone lines - Brady Unit phone support has been restored. As systems stabilize and call volume normalizes, non portal users may experience short delays, and we appreciate your patience.

Processing times - Brady staff are working extended hours and will continue to meet the three business day statutory timeline for background check determinations. Given today's expected surge, some transactions may remain in "pending review" longer than usual; all will be processed as quickly as possible.
