Speaker Jon Burns Applauds Passage of House Fiscal Year 2027 Budget

ATLANTA - Today, the Georgia House passed House Bill 974, the House version of the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget. HB 974 reaffirms the House's commitment to strengthening education, improving access to quality, affordable healthcare and investing in communities across Georgia.

"This budget is more than just numbers on a page. It represents the House's dedication to championing Georgia's students, children, families and communities in every corner of our great state," said Speaker Jon Burns. "From historic investments in literacy and education to strengthening rural healthcare and improving our infrastructure, every Georgian can be proud of the investments we're making today to build a better, brighter future for each of our neighbors."

The House version of the FY 2027 budget includes major investments in education, healthcare and infrastructure, including:

● $60.8 million to improve literacy outcomes for Georgia students

● $14.9 billion to fully fund Quality Basic Education (QBE)

● $2.7 million for vision and hearing screenings for young learners

● $5 million to expand student mental health support services

● $9.7 million to expand access to Pre-K

● $18.2 million to expand Graduate Medical Education and strengthen Georgia's healthcare workforce

● $3 million for Rural Hospital Stabilization Grants to support rural communities

● $6.9 million to increase access to maternal healthcare and improve outcomes for mothers and babies

● $13.6 million for local infrastructure improvements

● $10 million in local airport aid

The Fiscal Year 2027 budget is now in the Georgia State Senate for further consideration.
