(SCHAUMBURG, Illinois) March 11, 2026-The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) announced expanded support from the Zoetis Foundation, now providing $2.25 million in annual scholarship funding for veterinary students and veterinary technician students pursuing careers critical to animal health, public health, and food security.
Beginning this year, the grants will award $25,000 scholarships to 70 veterinary students and $10,000 scholarships to 35 veterinary technician students nationwide. The expanded investment in individual award amounts comes as students face rising educational costs while demand for veterinary services continues to grow.
"Veterinary medicine is vital to healthy communities, One Health, and food security, yet educational debt remains a major barrier for students passionate about animal health," said Jeannette Ferran Astorga, executive vice president of corporate affairs at Zoetis and Zoetis Foundation president. "The Zoetis Foundation is proud to deepen our investment in future veterinary professionals through our partnership with AVMF. Together, we're laying the foundation for a future where talented students can thrive in veterinary medicine, regardless of financial circumstances."
The increased award amounts are designed to help offset student debt while broadening access to training opportunities for students from all backgrounds. Through this grant support, AVMF and the Zoetis Foundation will address workforce needs by supporting students earlier in their careers and reducing financial barriers that can limit career choices or discourage students from entering the profession.
"We're grateful for the Zoetis Foundation's continued commitment to students and the veterinary profession," said Danielle Johnson, executive director of the AVMF. "These scholarships help remove financial barriers and make a meaningful difference."
