WASHINGTON, D.C. -Today, co-chairs of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus Reps. Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Greg Stanton (D-AZ), Andy Barr (R-KY), and Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) released the following statement:
"As co-chairs of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus, we reaffirm the United States' strong commitment to Taiwan, guided by the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances.
Taiwan is an important economic and security partner whose stability is vital to U.S. national security interests. Its cutting-edge semiconductor industry and proposed $165 billion investment into the United States are helping us build the secure supply chains necessary for everything from consumer electronics to stealth defense equipment. Taiwan is strategically located among a network of U.S. allies, partners and waterways critical to U.S. interests in the Indo-Pacific. Peace across the Taiwan Strait is in the national security interest of the U.S., and we will continue to stand by our key democratic partner to uphold our shared values of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law."
