Christen Wilcox confirmed by Clarksville City Council as City's new CFO

CLARKSVILLE, TN - On Thursday evening, September 4, 2025, the Clarksville City Council confirmed the appointment of Christen Wilcox as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the City of Clarksville, during the Council's monthly Regular Session.

Ms. Wilcox was then administered the oath of office from Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, who had placed her name before the Council for consideration. Joining her in the moment was her husband, Mike Wilcox.

With this confirmation, Ms. Wilcox now oversees the City's Finance & Revenue Department. Since November 2020, she had been serving as Deputy CFO for the City of Clarksville.

In presenting Ms. Wilcox to the Council, Mayor Pitts had called attention to her impressive background and extensive experience which qualifies her for the position.

"Since assuming the position as Deputy Chief Financial Officer in 2020, Christen has earned the respect of her colleagues, and been a major influence in keeping our City fiscally sound, and financially secure year after year," Mayor Pitts had said.

Ms. Wilcox told the Council upon being confirmed, Thursday, that she looks forward to working with them toward achieving common goals of moving the City forward in a fiscally-responsible manner.

Her governmental accounting career spans over two decades, beginning in 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy, and a Master of Business Administration degree as well as the designations of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) and Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO).

A proud graduate of Arizona State University, she began her career as a Senior Accountant before rising to the role of CFO in local governments across the country.

Ms. Wilcox has extensive experience in ensuring regulatory and reporting compliance as well as strategic and complex budgeting. She manages fiscal policy, and focuses on optimizing fiscal resources to align with both short-term and long-term community priorities.

Ms. Wilcox's education and experience are what brought her to Clarksville as the Deputy CFO five years ago, and her commitment to strengthening fiscal transparency and process improvement are what made her the best candidate for Chief Financial Officer of the state's fifth-largest city, Mayor Pitts had said.
