Winter Storm Gianna is impacting the South with heavy snow across the Carolinas and parts of Georgia before strengthening offshore into a powerful bomb cyclone. Eastern North Carolina could see more than a foot of snow, with blizzard conditions possible along the coasts of North Carolina and Virginia. Wind gusts near 70 mph may cause power outages, dangerous travel, and coastal flooding. Behind the system, a surge of Arctic air will bring prolonged cold with a blast of Arctic air across much of the central and eastern U.S.
Snowfall has already reached up to nine inches in the North Carolina mountains, with heavier bands expected through Saturday night. Impacts may extend north into Virginia and New England on Sunday before the storm moves away from late Sunday into Monday.
Mansfield is closely monitoring the system and notes that delays may still occur due to icy, hazardous road conditions. In some areas, roads remain inaccessible because of winter storm impacts. Deliveries will resume in those locations as soon as conditions are safe. Carriers throughout the East Coast, where safely operable, are at full capacity due to elevated demand and ongoing road challenges.
Site accessibility remains essential for safe, efficient deliveries. Lots, driveways, and tank access points must be fully cleared and safe for entry. If sites are not accessible, deliveries may be canceled, and additional charges could apply.
Mansfield remains in active response mode, with customer support and dispatch teams operating around the clock to manage changing conditions. The following areas are currently under alert:
Winter Additives
Mansfield strongly recommends keeping cold-flow additives (such as ColdPRO, Hot Shot Winter Defense, and Howes Diesel Treat & Anti-Gel) and an emergency reliquifier (such as Diesel 9-1-1) on site for emergencies.
Mansfield customers can order winter additives by emailing [email protected]. Delivery timelines will depend on current road conditions and the region. Additionally, due to a sudden surge in demand for winter additives, some products may be temporarily unavailable at the time an order is placed.
In the short term, these products can often be purchased at local automotive or truck supply stores. Note that cold-flow additives can be added as a preventive measure, while reliquifiers like Diesel 9-1-1 should only be used in response to gelled fuel.
